May 4th – 2nd table read
I have found that reading the play’s text and getting comments from others who have read the script can only take you only so far.
At some point, the playwright needs to hear the words out loud. And isn’t that the point of the script anyway? Of course, getting seven actors committed to the same 3 hour block takes planning and you can’t do it every time you make a change.
On Saturday, May 4th, “Sea Level Rise: A Dystopian Comedy” had its second table read. This one was organized by my director, Ted Thompson. He assembled a very nice good group of actors.
The changes I’ve made to the script because of this reading are subtle. We’ll have another table read with the actors who will be with us for the festival.
I’m guessing there will be some more changes when I see it with movement.
